The Mother In Law Tree

DSC_0021

Many Years ago now my mother in law stayed with us for a few months …we had a blast for once in my time with her …. we quilted every piece of used fabric n the house ….we walked everyday … we fished …camped …cooked ….did yard sales … pressed wild flowers….painted hearts….. looking back now it was a stress free time with her …no one to compete with ..just her and I everyday … the best thing she did that trip was make sure we had something to remember her by ….the spruce tree in the photo was one of the memories that last all year …each day it brings her to mind…..she saw a little tree on one of our walks and reached down pulled it up and said let’s go home and plant this before the sun sets( it is Alaska and was summer time and the sun does not set) …we got back home and her and her son planted the tree…..it grew …continues to grow …it perfumes the yard in the spring and summer…acts a snow catcher in the winter …houses many… many critters all year-long …..grows in height at an alarming rate….singing to our hearts each day that she is with us no matter what …..

What a wonderful thing, Becky! I keep saying I’m going to plant a tree at my place that will be just between me and my place. Nobody lives anywhere for any length of time anymore! This was a beautiful story and a lovely tree she is!!!

What a lovely story! I love the tree, as well. We have a few “special” trees on our property, too, planted by others who have since passed away or to commemorate a special occasion.
